Wheels of Life

Why I Opened This Book

There was a time when a lot was happening within me, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. I didn't yet have the language to understand what I was experiencing. I was looking for answers, for something that could help me make sense of what was unfolding inside of me. That is when I found Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith. What immediately struck me was how grounded and accessible her explanation of the chakra system was. She took something that could easily feel abstract or overwhelming and made it understandable. I could read the book from beginning to end, or return to a particular chakra months later, and somehow it would meet me differently each time.

I didn't simply read this book once. I lived with it. I spent a month with each chakra, learning what it represented, exploring what it meant to me personally, and looking at the wounds I carried within each one. I began to recognize the places where I could heal, the places where I still had work to do, and, just as importantly, the places where healing wasn't mine to force. That process changed the way I looked inward. Wheels of Life became a threshold for me. It gave me a framework for exploring parts of myself that I hadn't known how to name, and it encouraged me to keep going deeper rather than simply searching for answers outside of myself. Looking back, I don't think of this book simply as something I read during my spiritual journey. It was the gateway into it. In many ways, it is still a book I can return to, not because I am the same person who first opened it, but because I am not. - Angel
